Business BackgroundA mature gentleman who migrated to California in 1959 from Buffalo, New York, originally locating in Orange County and subsequently establishing residence in Long Beach, California, in 1976. More than 45 years in the local region has provided a deep insight into the Greater Los Angeles Metropolis and personal witness to the incredible development and continuous changes to the region in the past four and a half decades. As an industrial engineer who was heavily involved in personal real estate investments since 1978, I decided to make real estate my career in 1986 and have been a full time Realtorâ continuously since that time. My 20 plus years of experience as a Realtorâ has encompassed various areas of the real estate business including residential properties, apartment investments and commercial buildings, as well as land development. Personal investments, in addition to owning various homes along the way, has included rehabilitating and managing numerous apartment buildings, large and small, and building several projects from scratch, including one triplex that I still own in downtown Long Beach. My current personal residence is in the El Dorado Park area of Long Beach, on the border of Orange County, near the 605 Freeway. This location is convenient to both Counties and provides the flexibility to service both Orange County and Los Angeles County Clients. The firm with which I am associated, Eastside Realty Services, Inc., is one of the very few small independent brokerages in the area as most have been swallowed up by the large corporate entities. Although continuously being solicited to join the large companies, I have always preferred the personal attention of a small firm over the big corporate environments and believe that I can better serve my Clients from this platform. FamilyCurrently married to my second wife, Ramona, for over a quarter century. She is my Spanish teacher, which has helped tremendously to serve the diverse community here in the Southern California region. Being fluent in Spanish has been beneficial in both the buying and selling phases of the real estate market, as well as in property management. I have two adult children from my first marriage, who have provided four grandchildren to brighten my days. A multitude of nieces and nephews from both sides of the family also keep our personal life busy and full of surprises. Hobbies and PastimesYou might say the I have “gone to the birds” when you see my adopted kids, Pepito and Prieto, also known as Bandit and Peter Piper. Pepito is a blue front Amazon parrot who is a real sweetheart. He loves to be cuddled and thinks he is the lord of the house, and we, of course, are his servants. His nickname, Bandit, developed from his tendency to steal the pens from my shirt pocket. Prieto is an African Gray Timneh parrot who does not like to be touched, but he has an incredible vocabulary, which includes a rather impressive “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers”, hence his nickname. Clients sometimes think that I have a houseful of small children when on the phone at home if the birds are restless. Both birds enjoy my other pastime, which is music. They prefer that I play my electronic organ, which I used to play much more until I got back into playing the congas at the beginning of year 2002, and it has intrigued me since then. My wife agrees with the parrots (that the keyboard is more enjoyable listening), but I cannot seem to shake the “Conga fever”. The parrots sometimes whistle or sing along with me, and Ramona puts up with it because she knows it is the only real exercise I get. My grandnieces are the most loyal fans of the congas. Apart from these pastimes, I regularly work word puzzles, surf the internet, and as you may have noticed, design websites. Ramona and I both enjoy film festivals and concerts of various types, and there are always family gatherings happening. You might figure out by adding all this up, along with my business activities, that I do not watch much TV.
